It’s been a wee while since we last visited the incredible Highland Folk museum! “Waulking the wool’ is a traditional Scottish process for finishing and strengthening wool fabric. “Wool waulking is a significant cultural activity in the Scottish Highlands, traditionally performed by women. The process involves soaking newly woven wool in water and urine, then rhythmically beating and kneading it while singing Gaelic songs. This makes the fabric denser, softer, and more durable. It’s a physically
