Some middle ground movies to check out, these are a bit more gory but all very disturbing “The Woman” (2011), its sequel “Darlin” (2019) “Raw” (2017) If you’re in the mood for sheer depravity aren’t overly concerned about the quality of the movie both “Trauma” (2017) and “Grotesque” (2011) are horrific watches.

I wouldn't even consider these to be the scariest movies of all time, but they were filled with more than enough dread to keep me on the edge of my seat and I highly recommend you giving them a chance (assuming you haven't seen these): -Haunting of Hill House (the Netflix series). Without question the scariest show I've personally ever watched.

Edit 1: I forgot to mention, I still see The Exorcist on "scariest movies of all time" lists on various websites, and on this sub, quite often. 2022年6月25日 · Psycho, Halloween, and The Shining are in the top 10, so I’ll give you that. Some of the movies you ranked #11 to 20 would make it in my own top #10. Regardless, it’s not a bad list, and most of the movies you listed are actually quite good.

it's a list of what's scariest, not "The Best Horror Movies". Some of the older movies are "better", but most of them aren't particularly scary because the special effects and makeup weren't as good. There are exceptions of course(The Exorcist, the Shining etc.) but in terms of being actually SCARY, newer movies manage much better.

2023年1月2日 · I love horror movies, and I’m always on the hunt for the scariest movie ever. I love movies that are uncanny or unsettling, disturbing, and leave lasting impacts. I’m not a huge fan of campy horror. I can enjoy it, but I don’t really consider them to be scary movies. For me the scariest move I’ve seen is Hereditary (2018) hands down.
