2019年3月28日 · I also tested the resistance of an OEM dash light compared to my current GT350 R-Model indicator lights. They both came out to 33 ohms, which is a bit higher than the 15 ohms shown in the Group 13 Charging System diagram I've seen. Not sure on that one but I'll take it as the new indicator light having enough resistance to excite the field.

2007年6月5日 · I recently installed the JME instrument panel and cut the charge indicator (alt) light out of the circuit. My alternator is not charging because it doesn't have field voltage. Looking at the wiring diagram, it appears current flows through the charge indicator light, to the voltage regulator and then on to the alternator field post.

Most hot rodders and muscle car enthusiasts prefer the use of a volt meter or ammeter to monitor charging. However, certain Tuff Stuff alternators like the 7127, 7139 and 7140 series have terminals that may be used for a warning light.

2024年4月30日 · On the Stangs, it doesn't matter if there is a tach or not- its not in that circuit. They didn't have room (or want the cost) for the tach and ammeter so they added the warning light instead of the ammeter and the light needs the resistor so the alternator will continue to operate if the light burns out.

2024年12月26日 · I have searched various sites for wiring diagrams for the shift indicator. They all seem to wiring to a place on the keyswitch and also the feed to the light. The mechanic I use says it needs to be connected to the headlight switch, which don't make any sense. I thought should the console light would be on any time? Any help is appreciated.

2020年5月4日 · I to the green/red, that used to go to the I terminal at the old regulator plug. Which comes from the alt light. The green/red from the alt light doesn't go to the coil wire, that is red/green. Red/green should be fed by run position on the ignition switch, not ACC, via the pink resistor wire if you still have a points ignition system

2012年2月13日 · If so, the stand alone Discharge/Charge instrument (of non-tach cars) was substituted with an idiot light (ALT) indication built into the tachometer instrument display. This changed the wiring for the volt regulator charging circuit. I’m going to describe that circuitry because most all Machs had the factory tach (so I’m assuming you do).

2015年1月19日 · Note that the indicator light is fed by circuit 19 and the wiring is BLU/RED in color. That is the circuit for the instrument cluster illumination (19) of the same color. Circuit 490 appears to be added as a jumper to the heater blower feed as an afterthought.

2020年6月8日 · If it helps I have a 66 C code fastback that originally came with a 3 speed trans. 2 barrel carb, no ac no power steering and single exhaust. Very plain Jane low optioned car. It seemed weird to me that this car had the brake light warning light option, but it definitely looked original. Who knows.
