The patent you're talking about is not an external disc drive. It would use a physical Xbox (that does have a disc drive) on the same LAN as the Series S to do the validation.

You would want to return to where you bought it to exchange it for a Series X (which will be more expensive) in order to have a disc drive, otherwise, the only way to play the games is to buy them digitally.

The upcoming new PS5 detachable disc drive isn't comparable with the current digital PS5 it only works with the new digital+ disc PS5.
