Kilchurn Castle (/ kəlˈxʊərn /) [1] is a ruined structure on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It was first constructed in the mid-15th century as the base of the Campbells of Glenorchy, who extended both the castle and their territory in the area over the next 150 years.

2019年10月24日 · Kilchurn Castle is a picturesque and historic ruin located at the northeastern end of Loch Awe in Argyll and Bute. With a backdrop of stunning Highland scenery and the loch itself, the castle is one of the most photographed in Scotland and is a quintessential image of the Scottish Highlands.

Kilchurn Castle evolved in a slightly different way. It was built in about 1450 by Sir Colin Campbell, first Lord of Glenorchy, and it started life as a five storey tower house with a courtyard defended by an outer wall.
