Sheathing plywood vs plywood? : r/woodworking - Reddit
2020年7月18日 · Sheathing plywood will be fine as long as you either a) put some type of veneer, or even just paint, on it or b) you don't care if the shelves look a little rough. I used it for the top of a very rough "slapped it together" shop table and it worked great.
Nail size/length for plywood sheathing? : r/HomeImprovement
2020年9月25日 · No. 8d nails, which are 2.5" long are code minimum for fastening sheathing directly to the house frame. Given that we are dealing with an additional inch of thickness over standard 1/2" sheathing, I'd say 12d fasteners (3 1/4") would be minimum. I'd go with 16d (3 1/2"). 2.5" nails would not be acceptable at all.
What’s the difference between normal plywood and plywood …
Plywood rated for exterior sheathing (like CDX) is assembled with exterior-rated resins/adhesives and pressed to a nominal thickness (true thickness about 1/32 under nominal). That Plytanium product advertises an exterior rating (should also use similar adhesives), but has been sanded (it probably doesn't use D grade face veneers either, as ...

Roofer telling me 3/8" sheathing needs to be replaced with new …
2021年2月22日 · Just talked to the team. We wouldn't use 3/8". If the current sheathing is 3/8", it will have to be a full re-deck with 1/2". It's not a code issue but a practical issue. Typically 3/8" wood is pretty much a single-use product. It is always weakened after a roof tear-off. Maybe helps explain why the previous owner/roofer did a layover...
Osb vs plywood : r/Homebuilding - Reddit
2022年1月31日 · Plywood manufacturers are somewhat more limited than OSB manufacturers because of the nature of the veneers. Most people specifying subfloor sheathing type aren't fine-tuning spans, they just pick 16" or 24" to start with, pick a floor loading or deflection criteria, and decide thickness from that.
Need Advice on Roofer Choice (Replacement) -- Plywood vs. OSB
2021年5月2日 · For $16K, he wants to take off both layers and re-do the sheathing by tearing out the old plywood and replacing with OSB board. Full sheathing replacment (70 - 75 sheets @ $80 / sheet, so around $6,000) is included in the quote, and he won’t reuse any of the old plywood. He said walking on the roof, the plywood felt soft to him.
Pressure-treated plywood, bottom course of sheathing
2022年8月24日 · regardless of sheathing, no wood product will resist constant water infiltration, thus another solution to consider would be to follow all the tenets of a lstiburek perfect wall (good quality rainscreen installed properly, air gap to permit drying, and quality flashing on the sheathing layer) and allow for water to escape somehow through drying ...
7/16 OSB Roof Sheathing : r/Carpentry - Reddit
2018年6月1日 · Huber does mention that 7/16 OSB is acceptable for both roof and wall sheathing, and if it's within the allowable code in your area, you should be good to go. In a similar situation, I used this comparison site to explore different roofing materials and their prices.
Why pressure treated plywood is not used for sheathing?
Some builders choose to install treated plywood at the lower 2 feet where rot and moisture damage are most prone to occur. I wouldn’t install treated plywood on the entire house. Personally I would use Zip sheathing or a high performance house wrap …
