After the United Kingdom demanded that Apple create a backdoor that would allow government officials globally to spy on encrypted data, Apple decided to simply turn off encryption services in the UK rather than risk exposing its customers to snooping.

A backdoor into iCloud end-to-end encryption would defeat the purpose of the feature, so Apple is pulling it from the UK altogether.

A few weeks after the UK demanded Apple to create a backdoor on iCloud's Advanced Data Protection tool, the company removed this feature.
