The Alabama high school basketball season is officially into the postseason as area tournaments kick off around the state. Area tournaments can get started on Thursday and go through Wednesday for Class 1A-6A. Class 7A, with its lack of sub regional play, gets its area tournaments start on Feb.5 and goes through the 8th.

Thanks to its current eight-game winning streak, Waterford Mott has entered the Top 25 for the first time this season. The Corsairs have knocked off Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, Walled Lake Western and, most recently, Milford in overtime last Friday with games against White Lake Lakeland and Waterford Kettering this week.
