Very nice views of the coast and these rock formations. A lot of tourists but well worth the stop. It took some time to find a parking spot. sorinp09的完整评论

The tour was, overall, pretty good. It was a bit long and I would recommend that, when returning to Melbourne after dark, the drop off back at the museum be altered because the area was a bit dicy… hubbarja的完整评论

Can you walk along the beach and see all of the Apostles up close? At low tide obviously. Or are the Apostles too far apart? There are steps that go to the beach. Can you see the Apostles from beach level using the steps? I am from Canada. Are Feb/Mar/Apr time-frames suitable times to visit this area in terms of weather? Thanks for the time.
答:
No....you can’t....not accessible....however further down, there is a spot called Gibson steps....which you access the beach. Thanks

Thoughts on driving from Melbourne to Port Campbell, but driving inland on the A1. Then have an early start on the second day and drive the great ocean road back to Melbourne. Idea was to get to the 12 Apostles by sunset and then not having to drive along the great ocean road after dark. Does this itinerary make sense or not really? Thanks for any suggestions/help.

We went in May and did a one day trip trip from Melbourne and stopped at Split Point lighthouse and Apollo Bay for the scallop pies. Reached the Twelve Apostles around 2pm and the sun was behind the rocks so the pictures did not look as nice on the side which has more of the rock formation. As my husband is an avid photographer the angle of the light was not ideal. If we have the time we would prefer to stay 1 night at Port Campbell and visit the 12 Apostles in the morning. I have not tried the inland road but perhaps take the GOR on the way there and the inland road on the way back.

Good question, but I am not sure I have a perfect answer since we did not travel with a dog. This is not a "paid"attraction, so there is no one there to stop you from walking with your dog. My best guess is that you would be just fine with a well behaved pup on a leash. We often met campers in any of the parks who had a dog or two, so again, I think it would be unusual for a camping park to object to a dog on a leash.

Hi, Firstly a description of the road conditions. The great ocean road is well maintained, but generally a single lane in each direction. There are 'cut outs' for slow vehicles to pull out of the way and let the faster cars flow through. There are fewer overtaking sections. Secondly, road discipline. Really good and well mannered drivers, at or reasonably at the speed limit. Stress and hassle free. I drove during the day, so can't comment on lighting. But these are 'country' or out of town roads - so I'd expect limited street lighting. The road from Colac, was much the same - but definitely straighter. I found that worse - as the monotony of maintaining speed on a straight road was more likely to put me to sleep. In terms of road safety, these are good roads - so it comes down to how tired the driver is... A whole day driving and seeing the Apostles - with a departure at 7pm and about 2 hours from Port Campbell to Geelong... it's doable. But you might consider staying the night in Port Campbell - nice meal and a snooze. You know what they say- coffee, loud music and cold air conditioning! They don't work- when you're tired - best to stop and rest. Have a great holiday - drive safe
