I would pose the question of school age children to the Hungry Bird bookers. They may have good tours for different age groups. We booked the three hour tour and loved it. I personally would not like a five hour tour. The tour was fantastic. Just the right amount of walking and all food we sampled was very good and the tour very entertaining. We actually went back the next day and tried more of what we liked.

We did a Saturday tour. Honestly I can’t remember if some of the food was Surinamese or not, but every mouthful was outstanding. I don’t think you can go wrong with this group!

Awesome for a solo traveler! I was alone and it was a great way to spend a day being entertained and getting to know people (if you want to of course).
